This Just Seems Wrong - A Double-strung Racquet?

Blackburne is a legitimate tennis weapon, a double edged sword that can help tennis players of all levels slice their way through tournaments--particularly those who bounce too many shots off the frame. - Tennis Magazine, May 1997
I think the fact that few people know about this, and that the big selling quote from Tennis Magazine is from 10 years ago, should be an indication that something smells funny about this whole idea. They say its "legal" twice, and brag that the 10 year ban has been lifted by the ITF. Me thinks thou doth protest too much...
The Blackburne tennis racquet is double sided with a set of strings on both sides of its frame. It claimes that because the strings are taken to the edge of the frame, it eliminates flubbed shots off the frame, and giving you a bigger hitting surface.
Here's what else we know:
1) It has been approved for Tournament play by the ITF after a 10 year ban
2) Its 10.7 oz. and graphite
3) Claims to reduce tennis elbow
4) 40% more hitting area
5) You string it at 57 lbs.
6) 107" head size
7) It costs $199. Of course, you have to spend twice as much stringing your racquet, so factor that into your budget...
You can buy the Blackburne...if you want to be one of those kind of people...here.
