Would it kill the fashionistas to have a little history with their 2008 Lacoste product line?

When one door closes another opens up...or something like that.

The US Open wrapped up yesterday with another Federer slam...and NY Fashion week now begins.

For one of our favorite, classic tennis brands, Lacoste, this marks its 75th birthday. When a brand gets this into fashion, I think people think more about the styles and the crocodile logo (and it IS a crocodile, not an alligator) than they do Rene Lacoste and the Four Musketeers (the four French tennis players who dominated Davis Cup tennis in the 1920's and 1930's). Lacoste also won seven grand slams.

I wish they would remember these legends a little more, and worry about what anorexic models look like in the garments them a little less...but I understand they have to sell clothes.
