Day 5 @ the Aussie Open + The AO Backpack

When one door closes another opens. So too does Day 4 at the Aussie Open end and Day 5 begins. Here are some of the Day 4 highlights:

- 2003 French Open champion Juan Carlos Ferrero beat Alun Jones
- World No.2 Svetlana Kuznetsova defeated Tsvetana Pironkova 7-6 (7-0) 6-2
- Russian No.27 seed Maria Kirilenko had an easy win over Akiko Morigami of Japan.
- Venus Williams, the No.8 seed, defeated Camille Pin of France 7-5 6-4.
- Women's No.9 seed Daniela Hantuchova won over France's Alize Cornet in straight sets.
- Indian No.32 seed Sania Mirza pulled out a close 6-1 4-6 7-5 win over Swiss Timea Bacsinszky.
- Dmitry Tursonov lost to American Sam Querrey in four sets 7-6(5) 4-6 6-4 6-2.
