The title takes 19 yr old del Potro's winning streak to 19 matches which is the second longest on the ATP circuit this season. Prior to del Potro's 19-match winning streak, only one player ranked outside the Top 10 in the last 20 years had won at least 15 consecutive matches -- Karel Novacek (15) in 1992. del Potro is also the only player in history to win the next three events after scoring his first tournament win. He is only the twelfth player to win four titles in a single year while still a teenager. According to the ATP website, ten of the previous eleven went on to reach #1 at sometime in their careers. The victory ranks del Potro at 17 in the world, a career high.
Over the past few weeks, Wilson's [K] Factor technology has also guided other players to victory and the gold medal. Playing with his [K] Six.One Tour, Roger Federer wins an Olympic gold medal in Beijing, China with his doubles partner, Stanislas Warinka, 6-3 6-4 6-7(4-7) 6-3. The Williams sisters earned their second title of the year and their second doubles gold, adding to their medal in Sydney in 2000. Both playing with [K] Blade Team rackets, they won easily in a 6-2, 6-0 victory for the gold.
