The former World No. 1 and as Billie Jean King said, "'the greatest singles, doubles and mixed doubles player who's ever lived." Is adding a new battle to her 18 Grand Slam singles titles, 31 Grand Slam women's doubles titles (an all-time record), and 10 Grand Slam mixed doubles titles...breast cancer.
If there's one person who will whip cancer's ass, its Martina. We're sure of it.
Old School tennis has a super cool charcoal tshirt design of Martina, which is awesome enough in its own right. But...they've recently announced that to further commemorate Martina, 50% of the profits from the sales of these shirt will be donated to Susan B. Komen For the Cure.
You can learn more about Martina's journey and battle with breast cancer at CNN.

It's not everyday we get to write about women's chonies here at the blog, so we'd like to thank Stick It Wear?! for alerting us to a new offering, the Eroddicks...get it? Erotic...Andy Roddick...Eroddicks...oh nevermind...
Pick your favorite tennis personality, they come in: Agassi, Sharapova, Safin and Nadal. They come in 3 colors: white w/ pink, black and gray, with a screened emblem on front
with the Stick It Wear?! designer signature. They're 95/5% cotton/spandex boy shorts...I hear the hiphugger style is comfortable for everyday wear but I'll have to take the ladies' words for it.
Check out other Stick It Wear?! posts: Jimmy Connors, John McEnroe, and Rivalries.

If we haven't made it clear before, we love the designs coming out of Stick It Wear?!. We covered the Jimmy Connors and John McEnroe designs, and we just learned about the release of their updated rivalries designs.
They've always had McEnroe/Borg, Agassi/Sampras, and Federer/Nadal, but these new designs have a twist, a big 'ole "V" in the middle, just in case you couldn't tell these folks were arch enemies.
Not crazy about the Stick It Wear?! logo on the front, I prefer it on the back shoulder. But loving the new "V" - adds a nice design component.
Check them out on the Stick It Wear?! website.

We can't talk about Jimmy Connors' design from Stick It Wear?! without taking a look at the other American tennis bad boy, Johnny Mac. I've come to really love the older McEnroe, but in his younger days, with the wild afro, headband and horrendous attitude, I had trouble rooting for him. This younger persona, though, is nailed in this 100% cotton t-shirt.
McEnroe may not have thought the line judges were being serious, but this shirt is seriously cool. Ok...that was a lame play on words but what can I say...?
Jimmy Connors, that is...what did you think we meant? :)
There are few tennis strokes as distinctive as the straight-armed, lefty, two-handed backhand of Jimmy Connors. Which is exactly what the newest Stick It Wear?! design captures perfectly. Add to that the Dutch boy haircut, the Wilson T-2000 racquet and the short-shorts, and you've got the persona nailed.
As with all the Stick It Wear items, the stick figure graphic is augmented by the dates of the player's most noteworthy accomplishments. In this case, Connors' U.S. Open wins, when one of the original bad boys of tennis was dominating the sport. Not to mention, Connors is the only player to win the U.S. Open on all three of its surfaces - grass, clay and hard.
You can get the JC shirt on a variety of apparel items, but the image shown is a 100% cotton t-shirt. Its soft and not overly thick cotton. That coupled with the reasonable cut (not too slim, not too baggy) makes it a very comfortable shirt.

My wife got this catalog from Athleta, it is all women's athletic apparel. But the designs and styles are very cool, so here are two of my favorites from the tennis section.
Summer Bloom Chase Skort
Passing the guys on your run is hard enough for them, but imagine their surprise when you cruise by in a skirt and bikini top. Comfortable elastic waistband sits flat and invisible zip pocket has a reflective Athleta chi graphic. Skirt outseam: size medium 14", short inseam: 4". The Summer Bloom Chase Skort has a placement Summer Bloom print that matches back to the bikini and tankini tops.
Deuce Bra Cup Racerback Dress
Designed to offer the ultimate in real support built to your real size when you're bounding back and forth across the court or across town, this semi-fitted dress features a fully constructed inner floating underwire bra with molded cups and hook-and-eye adjustability for lift and separation. When you hear about the new technologically advanced tennis apparel these days, even if you've worn them before, you wonder if its hype or real. This is exactly what I thought when I received my Prince Aerotech Trend Crew. Would the 100% polyester fabric, called "Aero Extreme" provide the comfort and moisture wicking it claims? Would it really provide UV protection? There was only one way to find out in my mind - go play. Duh, right? But when I say "go play" I mean go play on a hard court in Arizona in July, when its 115 degrees outside and so sunny you think you are playing underneath the space shuttle when it takes off.
How did it perform, you ask? Extremely well. I sweat a lot under normal conditions, I sweat a disgusting amount when its 115 degrees outside. When I play in a normal polo or t-shirt, I soak through and the shirt clings to me, forcing me to change multiple times.
I'm not going to say the Prince Aerotech Crew didn't soak through, it did. However, the big difference is that it doesn't cling to you - allowing you to keep moving freely and feel less uncomfortable in general.
The material itself is very light - you barely know its on. And the design is modern but clean. Readers of this blog will know I don't like all the over-designed tennis apparel. This has nice pops of color and design, but not overwhelming and not cheesy.
Check out the Prince Men's Trend Crew here.
Looks like Wilson plans is jumping into the apparel market in 2009 with threads for men and women. The apparel will sport UV protection (UPF 30+) plus moisture, stain, and odor management.

These are hands down the most comfortable shorts I have ever worn. I tested these in Phoenix, AZ in July, so if there were any flaws in comfort, moisture wicking or ventilation, you know I would have found them. They are made from an anti static material which, as the name implies, reduces static cling that provides a smooth surface next to the skin for all day comfort. And there are cooling zones in all the right places (if you know what I mean) that give truly superior ventilation.
Here is the one beef I have with these - my sample did not have pockets. This forced me to tuck my second ball (no pun intended) into the bottom of my briefs, which is a suboptimal playing situation. That is a serious design flaw in my opinion. However, I have seen pics of the shorts (like the one in this post) recently that look very much like they do have pockets. I may have received an earlier version of the shorts, in which case we're all good and these are awesome shorts.
