adidas Tournament Pack - We need these in the US!

We first brought these to you back in March, and now SneakerFiles has pics on the second drop of the classic adidas tennis shoes. White, black and green are three of the few colors seen in the pack throughout the different models. The Matchplay, Tennis Advantage OG, Stan Smith, and Forest Hills '82 are the four sneakers seen in this second drop.

Check them out, they're awesome if you're a fan of classic tennis looks and the old school. From what we can tell, they're only selling in the UK. If we're wrong in this assumption, PLEASE someone let us know. If we're not, comment on this blog and let's see if we can get someone to carry them over here.

K-Swiss Men's Ultrascendor on Sale

K-Swiss Men's Ultrascendor (Wh/Nvy/Slvr)
Tennis Magazine's Editor's Choice Winner is now on sale for $69.99. More importantly, these kicks are what I'm wearing these days (the mid version) and they are the best tennis shoes I've worn in a long, long time. They are super light, but with the durability you'd expect from K-Swiss. Great comfort, great support, and an all-surface outsole.`

The Ultrascendor combines performance features with lightweight materials and design elements that minimize the weight of the shoe - a skeletalized outsole with exposed EVA and a unique design in the cushion board.

Check out the K-Swiss Men's Ultrascendor here.

Lacoste Stealth Collection Taking its Cues from Nike

greylacoste.jpg
air-zoom-tennis-trainer-101.jpgI used to work in the footwear business. I understand that most shoe companies copy each other to one degree or another...there's only so much you can do with leather, rubber and mesh. So I wasn't surprised when I saw the Lacoste Stealth Collection at SneakerFiles and saw what to me looks a lot like the Nike Air Trainers that are set to be reissued this year. The Lacoste's likely don't have the tech, and are more fashion that function. And the colors aren't entirely the same, but they sure do look like they're from the same family.

Am I the only one seeing the resemblance? Let me know what you think.

Prince O Series Performance Footwear Hits Shelves

prince o series.pngNew Line Delivers "Hole" New Look and Makes Immediate Impact at Tour Level

Bordentown, NJ - May 29, 2008 - Tennis players are continuously faced with equipment choices. When it comes to their feet, the right shoes can lead to better footwork, which leads to more wins. Over the past few seasons, Prince has brought to market some of the sport's most popular, high-quality footwear and now has more models among the top 15 best-sellers than any other brand*. Now, after months of exhaustive design and validation trials among competitive players, Prince is launching O Series and in the process is taking footwear to a "hole" new level.

O Series builds on the success of the original M Series line by delivering improved Precision Tube technology which rounds the tubes for maximum energy return - providing quicker acceleration and improved footwork. This second generation Precision Tube technology also provides greater shock absorption for a smoother, more stable ride. O Series is available in two versions: the OV1 for a slightly firmer ride while optimizing ventilation and breathability and the OC1 with lighter gauge Precision Tubes for a softer, more cushiony ride.

"Prince continues to succeed in footwear by understanding what tennis players need," said John Embree, President of Prince Americas. "Today, more players around the world are walking into tennis shops or looking online for Prince footwear. We are excited to introduce O Series as we look to bring the best quality products to players and continue to grow our footwear category."

O Series saw immediate on court success when Nikolay Davydenko, who is extremely particular about his equipment, decided to lace up a pair of OV1's for the Sony Ericsson Open after trying many other brands. Davydenko went on to capture the biggest title of his career - making for quite an on-court debut for the new line. More recently, at the start of this year's French Open, approximately twenty ATP and WTA players took to the red clay of Roland Garros wearing O Series footwear.

Both the OV1 and the OC1, for men and women and the OC1 for juniors are now available in the United States wherever Prince tennis products are sold.

Men's
OV1 - Black/White/Red
OV1 - Navy/White/Silver
OC1 - Black/Silver Red
OC1 - White/Navy

Women's
OC1 - White/Silver
OV1 - White/Light Blue
OV1- White/Navy
OC1 - White/Lilac

Junior's
OC1 - Black/Silver/Red

Pricing
- Men's and women's OV1 and OC1 - SRP: $110
- Junior OC1 - SRP: $60

"Players should be careful about what equipment they put on their feet since the right footwear can not only make the on-court experience more enjoyable, but can be the difference between winning and losing," said George Poulos, Senior Category Manager for Footwear at Prince. "Some players like to "feel the court" more than others. Some like a shoe with more ventilation. O Series provides options for players depending on personal preference. In the end, the shoe needs to fit perfectly, look great and enable players to achieve their best results."

Nike Air Zoom Tennis Trainer - McEnroe redux

mcenroeretro.jpg
I am sooooo getting these.

I wore the originals back in the 80's, they looked a little different and weren't the most durable, but they were super comfortable and I loved the look. The next gen of these came out in 2004 and retailed for $110. These will be at $80 (nice) and it has Johnny Mac's face embroider on the tongue.

Vintage Tennis Friday, Part Deaux - Rene Lacoste 75th Anniversary Sneaker Pack

renelacoste.jpgWhile we don't think the famed member of the Four Musketeers, Rene Lacoste, wore brightly colored sneakers, we appreciate the thought Lacoste has put into their Rene Lacoste sneaker pack to mark the company's 75th anniversary. The pack has six different single-colored sneakers named after the founder, Jean Rene Lacoste. According to SneakerFiles, each sneaker will retail around $75 - yikes, for canvas sneakers? The power of branding!

Vintage Tennis Friday: Adidas Rod Laver Low Weave Black / White

adidas-rod-laver-low-weave-blk-wht-1.jpgAnother new take on a classic, this pair of adidas Rod Laver's features a black and white color scheme. And like all Rod Laver's, they are mesh, so they breath. SneakerFiles.com tells us we should be able to get them at a local adidas retailer.

adidastennisctcheel.jpgFrom SneakerFiles.com:

Sporting Adidas' traditional three striped silhouette, this Tennis TC appears very subtle, but definitely appealing. The white, red, and blue color-way combines with the simple design to deliver a great overall shoe that has a lot to offer. In addition, the toe box is composed of suede and the tongue features a net embossed design.

WellieWagonimage.jpgScandinavian clothing and design store [hus] and Tretorn have taken a page from the hot dog and soft pretzel vendors in NYC - selling Tretorn products from a wagon. The wagon's made from wooden boxes. To quote Cool Hunting, "expect...prices a little north of the average dirty water dog."
