2010 Wimbledon Tennis Gear Notables - The Women

We have but one big observation regarding the equipment of this year's Wimbledon on the ladies' side of things. And that observation...K-Swiss has arrived.
Of course, K-swiss has been around for a long long time, and they've been the choice of many a club player including yours truly forever. But they've only been going into the pro game for a few years. Yes, the Bryan brothers are K-Swiss head to toe which is amazing. But let's be real, doubles doesn't sell product. Singles does, which is why Vera Zvonareva's final appearance was noteworthy to us.

First, the apparel. Very sharp, classic yet modern. Not too flashy. Contemporary tennis threads. Check it out at Do It Tennis or Tennis Warehouse.

The Shoes: K-Swiss Women's Defier RS
The Defier RS is engineered to stand up to the most intense game. The TecTuff high-abrasion toe wrap creates a durable barrier between the court and the foot. The abrasion-resistant DragGuard is placed in the toe and the heel of the Aosta 7.0 rubber outsole. The Defier RS outsole features non-marking and a clay-friendly herringbone tread pattern for multi-surface traction.

K-Swiss Limited Release Ping-Pong Sneaker
As you know we're big fans of K-Swiss in general, so we're especially excited that they're going into the ping-pong market. At the end of this month, they're launching a new table tennis sneaker at New York's Partners & Spade. They'll be available on August 29th, and look like they're selling for $80 a pair. From the picture, it looks like they are the K-Swiss Classic Original Tennis Shoes
with an orange stripe and an orange mesh inner lining...but who cares? Not us, we like it.

K-Swiss Guerilla Advertising in Paris
I don't speak French, so its tough to give you too many details, but the photos speak for themselves. K-Swiss goes into Paris with pink tennis balls on cars and billboards on trucks. If you're interested in a video about how K-Swiss put the campaign together and some of the reactions of the bystanders, click here.

K-Swiss Men's Ultrascendor on Sale

Tennis Magazine's Editor's Choice Winner is now on sale for $69.99. More importantly, these kicks are what I'm wearing these days (the mid version) and they are the best tennis shoes I've worn in a long, long time. They are super light, but with the durability you'd expect from K-Swiss. Great comfort, great support, and an all-surface outsole.`
The Ultrascendor combines performance features with lightweight materials and design elements that minimize the weight of the shoe - a skeletalized outsole with exposed EVA and a unique design in the cushion board.
